Silver Foil Enamel Dial
The Smoked Ocean collection is unique in its design in that the surface of the copper backing is covered with a layer of silver foils that are only 4 microns thick. The silver foil is hand-treated to create a unique texture. A transparent enamel glaze is then fired over the silver foil, making the texture of the silver foil visible and giving it a unique lustrous effect.
The tiny fluorescence emanating from the refraction of light gives the illusion of shimmering and glowing.
This process gives the watch a deep and fascinating aesthetic, like a smoky ocean.
The Process of Intricate Enamel Craftsmanship
From design to finished product, it requires over a dozen processes, ensuring meticulous perfection at each step. Different colors of enamel require varying temperatures and durations for firing, sometimes necessitating 5-6 repeated firings, each instance a test of time and temperature.
Enamel glazes
Enamel is made from a mixture of glass minerals and metal oxides and is known for its rich, vibrant colors. In order to obtain a unique luster and beauty, the enamel is ground to a fine sandy consistency and then fired at a temperature of 800 degrees Celsius.
Each enameled piece is meticulously crafted by experienced artisans and requires a significant investment of time. Due to the complexity of the production process, the success rate is very low, especially for dials. This is why enameled pieces are so precious.
